Massage Therapy

What is Massage Therapy?

Massage therapy is manual manipulation of soft body tissues (muscle, connective tissue, tendons and ligaments) to enhance a person’s health and well-being. There are dozens of types of massage therapy methods (also called modalities).

People seek massage therapy for a variety of reasons – to reduce stress and anxiety, relax muscles, rehabilitate injuries, reduce pain, and promote overall health and wellness.

  • Increased lymph circulation
  • Stretches muscles, ligaments, and tendons

Types of Massage Services we Offer:

30 minute massage is best if your focus is specifically on one problem area. If your concern is a stiff neck, sciatic, tight shoulders or a similar issue, the half hour can be just enough for you to get on your way to feeling some relief.

60 minute massage will work well for you if you would like to focus on relaxation, if you have one or more specific problem areas to address or if you would like a combination of both. You may have some issues that you would like to work with, but still want to relax and with the hour, you can achieve both.

Swedish massage provides benefits that go beyond relaxation. Major benefits of Swedish massage are improved circulation and a reduction in blood levels of the stress hormone cortisol. High levels of cortisol are associated with higher blood pressure and increased belly fat. Swedish massage provides benefits that go beyond just relaxation.

Deep tissue massage is designed to relieve tension in the connective tissue called fascia and the deep muscles of the body. Not to be confused with “deep pressure”, deep tissue starts with light pressure and progressively gets deeper. This technique is designed to relieve tension in the fascia (connective tissue) and the deep muscles of the body.

Sports massage addresses trigger points and adhesion in the muscle that inhibit the ability to function at an optimal level. These painful conditions also take away the mental edge needed for competition. Sports massages relieves pain and helps improve athletic performance.

Prenatal massage will sooth mother-to-be and relieve you of some common symptoms of pregnancy. We prop and position you just how you need to be comfortable and safe during this gentle and caring session. If you haven’t had prior massage experience, it is good to wait until you are into your second trimester to have this massage.

Medical Massage is a results-based massage therapy geared toward the specific treatment of a particular problem based on a diagnosis followed by assessment, evaluation and treatment. Physicians or Medical Doctors may prescribe Medical Massage Therapy, although it is not required. With Medical Massage Therapy, specific goals or outcomes are the basis for treatment. Medical Massage differs from other types of massage therapies in that it is medically and scientifically outcome-based for detailed issues over a definite course of treatment. Medical Massage can also be compensated by health insurance. At All Injury Rehab & Chiropractic, our doctors first assess the Medical Massage Therapy, and then treatment is administered under our doctors’ supervision by a Medical Massage Therapist. Contact the Therapeutic Resolution Center today if you are interested in Medical Massage, have been prescribed Medical Massage Therapy by a physician or medical doctor, or to find out if your health insurance covers Medical Massage Therapy.
