Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral Therapy

Many of us have a current and past injuries from sports, falls, strains, auto accidents, and traumatic experiences. These events can create ongoing poor mobility, pain, depression, and anxiety that can sometimes last a lifetime. A key component and important addition to any health program is Craniosacral Therapy.

How Does it Work?

Craniosacral session work helps clients to find their prefect health by addressing injuries and experiences. Even those that happened long ago can still have an impact on us and be stored in the body. Craniosacral therapy helps build health in the brain, the nervous systems; essentially the whole body.

What Kind of Symptoms Does It Address?

P.T.S.D and other anxiety and stress related problems respond well to cranial work, as does Autism, A.D.H.D and Sensory Processing Disorders and memory loss. It can also prevent and resolve chronic pain, which includes muscle aches, stiffness, neck and shoulder pain, migraines, inflammation, fibromyalgia and other auto-immune diseases.

CST supports the body to soften from the inside out. This includes optimum organ function and easy digestion. Clients often find relief from IBS and end up creating better, more comfortable elimination. Craniosacral Therapy is not only beneficial for pre-existing conditions but is considered essential in pre and post-operative patient health. It not only encourages mobility but also aids in building strength and resiliency.

What is a Session Like?

In a Craniosacral Therapy session, a safe environment for the client is created, with the intention to support, calm the system, and release restrictions. Skilled therapists listen deeply to the fluctuations of the cerebral spinal fluid; hearing the patterns in the body with its innate intelligence and desire to resolve stresses, illness and trauma. Craniosacral therapy combines gentle touch and awareness to encourage regulation of the nervous systems, release of old patterns and restrictions held in the connective tissues and fascia, allowing the body to return to its natural state of balance. Practitioners may have hands on the head, sacrum, feet of the fully clothed client with a light listening touch and neutral perception. As experienced therapists, we hold space for the body, with a light touch—from a place of our own grounded stillness and skill.

The supported system accesses its own inner resources, balance and stillness, remembering its own perfect health.

Are There Side Effects?

The beauty of craniosacral therapy is that there are virtually no side effects. The body can show its patterns, its restrictions and work in partnership with the therapist to reorganize the system for the individual’s optimum health. The body-mind reconnects with its own healing resources. It has the inner intelligence and innate sensitivity that is capable, when skillfully supported, of presenting itself in a natural priority to be resolved. As a result, this therapy does NOT overwhelm the system, but supports its increased strength and resiliency, layer by layer, allowing it to resolve difficult patterns and return to each individual’s state of perfect Health.

Who Does it Benefit?

Whether used as a regular form of relaxation or implemented in difficult times craniosacral therapy can foster deep relaxation, stress resolution and an overall sense of joy and ease. Parents and babies, children, teens, adults and seniors are all candidates for this health filled work.
